Numerous viewpoints are scattered over the island, we at Casa Vento have listed the most beautiful of them for you on this map. Some of them can be accessed directly by car, others require a long ascent up a mountain. You will find many a Miradouro or View Point here that you can safely call an insider tip because it is not listed anywhere else.

Madeira viewpoints

So that you can compare the different viewpoints, we have rated them each with a level. It describes the accessibility, the spectacularity of the panorama leads to an appreciation or depreciation. The lower the rating, the easier it is to reach the Miradouro.

Here is our list of the most beautiful viewpoints known to us in Madeira. We visited each of them personally. They are ordered clockwise from Funchal:

Fireworks Funchal harbor
Level1

Fireworks Funchal

This spot offers a wonderful view over Funchal, which is illuminated in the evening, and the harbor. On New Year's Eve you have a great impression of the fireworks, along with many other people. Enjoy the party!
Miradouro do Paredao
Level1

Miradouro do Paredao

A little-used road and two minutes along a paved path lead to the Miradouro do Paredao. From here you have a great view: to the south to the sea and to the east and north of the rugged mountains! Blue sky necessary.
Pico Cidrao
Level6

Pico Cidrao

The most difficult viewpoint to get to. 30 minutes exposed path, 20 meters climbing in the third degree and two extremely exposed ledges lead to the Pico Cidrao. Bookable this adventure with Casa Vento as a via ferrata.
The spectacular Cabo Girao
Level1

Cabo Girao

Probably the best-known, most touristic and, above all, most commercial viewing platform in all of Madeira: Cabo Girao. A full 580 meters above sea level, an almost vertical wall and a glass floor make your heart pound.
Panorama Segrada Familia
Level3

Capela Sagrada Familia

It is only by chance that you find this small chapel with a large garden and many great panoramas over Madeira. You can spend the whole afternoon here. Barbecue, enjoy, picnic. Just a nice place to relax and enjoying the sun going down.
Miradouro do Espigao, Serra de Agua
Level2

Miradouro do Espigao

A narrow road high above the valley between Ribeira Brava and Sao Vicente leads to a view point in the middle of a small mountain village from which you can see the entire valley to the sea: the Miradouro do Espigao. Play Titanic.
Viewpoints at Chao dos Terreiros
Level4

Chao dos Terreiros

A wide slope leads to this rather unknown mountain peak. A comfortable hike if you don't own an all-terrain vehicle. If you have one, you can drive the whole way up. Only visit this summit when the sky is completely free of clouds!
Lombo do Mouro
Level4

Lombo do Mouro

On the way from Lombo do Mouro to Pinaculo you cross a ridge from which you have a completely unexpected spectacular view of Sao Vicente. The panorama to Pico Arieiro is just as beautiful, especaially after snowfall.
Lugar do Baixo port
Level3

Lugar do Baixo

The project of a luxurious marina in Lugar de Baixo had to be abandoned after investing millions of Euros due to the rough seas. Extremely spectacular with high waves! Also a great place to be explored as lost place.
Miradouro Raposeira
Level3

Raposeira

From Raposeira there are two ways to reach this great viewpoint. Either you drive your car down a narrow street and walk a few meters or you can park comfortably and descend a narrow and sometimes steep path.
Vereda da Atalaia
Level5

Vereda da Atalaia

A steep and exposed ascent leads from Paul do Mar to Raposeira. Halfway through the route there is a lookout point with a fantastic view over the coastal town and the south coast. You should not have fear of heights.
Ladeira dos Zimbreiros, Faja de Ovelha
Level4

Ladeira dos Zimbreiros

The mountain station of a freight cable car used to be located here, with which the products of the juniper plant were transported. Enjoy a great view towards Paul do Mar and over the sea and puzzle where the cable car has led.
Vereda do Pesqueiro
Level5

Vereda do Pesqueiro

In the middle of the steep coast of Ponta do Pargo lies the descent Vereda do Pesqueiro, in the lower half of which there is an amazing view. The whole way is absolutely worth seeing! Step resistance is an absolute requirement.
Miradouro da Ladeira
Level2

Miradouro Ponta da Ladeira

On the other side of the Tristao Valley opposite the cable car to Quebrada Nova is this little-known view point. Drive a dead end street to the end and enjoy the peace and quietness and a great view. With picnic table.
Viewpoint Porto Moniz
Level2

Porto Moniz

This viewpoint is somewhat hidden in the farthest corner of Porto Moniz. Direct access by car, a picnic table invites you to linger and a beautiful view of the coast and the sea await you. To be combined with a visit of the seawater swimming pool.
Miraoduro Ribeira de Janela, Madeira
Level2

Ribeiro Escuro

In addition to the well-known Miradouro da Eira da Achada, there is another lookout point above Ribeira de Janela. It is at the end of the Caminho do Ribeiro Escuro cul-de-sac. A panorama to the west of the sea and the cliffs.
View Point Fanal
Level2

Fanal ER 209

On the ER 209 between Ribeira de Janela and Paul da Serra is this small view point in Fanal with a view over the mountains. A short stop if you are here anyway, for example on a levada hike. There is much to see in this area.
Veu da Noiva
Level1

Veu da Noiva

Probably the most photographed waterfall in Madeira adorns postcards, book covers and fridge magnets. Easily accessible and even barrier-free. With a little boldness you can get much closer along the old road.
Ribeiro Inferno
Level2

Ribeiro Inferno, ER 101

The old connecting road in the north, the ER 101 antigua, is falling apart more and more and is hardly accessible for cars. You can discover some great viewpoints on foot. Wide view over the north coast. The Ribeira Inferno is also nice.
