Many magical and sometimes huge mountain peaks are waiting for your visit in Madeira. No matter if Pico Ruivo, Pico Arieiro or Pico Grande, each one has its own special charms and demands on hiking enthusiasts.
The queen's hike of the island is without a doubt the demanding mountain hike from the Arieiro parking lot to Madeira's highest mountain and back. The hike leads over narrow ridge edges, up through various tunnels and steel stairs. You will work out the best panorama of the flower island with a six-kilometer route and six hundred and fifty meters of altitude. Per direction. Without a flashlight, the tour is difficult! You should also think of enough provisions for the highwayman birds.

Level1

Pico Ruivo do Paul

The easiest mountain tour in Madeira, which still offers an overwhelming view. As a circular route, the hike through fern meadows to the 1640 meter high peaks can be done in a good two hours. Just the thing to get a taste of the mountains of the flower island. Because of the panorama it is essential to do it when the sky is clear.

Eagles rock

Ospreys used to nest on the huge rock; it is enthroned on the northeast coast above the small town of Faial. The ascent is a nice half-day tour. It is a bit steep and finding the way difficult in places in the first third, but the view over the coast is very impressive, especially when the sun is shining. The peak itself is less spectacular.

Sao Lourenco

The hike leads over rugged cliffs along steep coasts to the most easterly point of Madeira with great views over the Atlantic. Here it is almost always sunny and sometimes very windy to stormy. In the sea, huge rock towers defy the waves and the passage over the one hundred meter high ridge edge Estreito is guaranteed to give goose bumps.

Pico Grande

Not the highest peak, but certainly one of the most rugged and with a first-class view. A hike with an alpine character that guarantees pure enjoyment in good weather. The path leads in places through unmarked terrain, which can make the hike a risky undertaking in fog or thick clouds. The last meters need some climbing abilities.

Pico Ariero - Pico Ruivo

The royal tour onto Madeira's highest mountain. All efforts are more than made up for by a unique view and countless spectacular sections of the path.
